What is Rudrabhishekam? 

What is Rudrabhishekam? What are the Rudrabhishekam benefits? Rudrabhishekam is a sacred pooja performed by a devotee to offer Abhishekam to Lord Shankar in Rudra form. It is a kind of holy bath that uses sacred water and Panchamrita (A mixture of Milk, Curd, Sugar, Honey & Ghee). The Priest chants Divine Mantras from an ancient scripture called "Rudrapath" or "Rudrashtadhyayi." Hindu community's tradition follows Rudrabhishekam at home as well as at temples for thousands of years. The best time to perform Rudrabhishekam pooja is at 4 AM.

Though the Pooja is done on Graha Pravesh, Birthdays or Anniversaries, the most significant days to perform Rudrabhishekam are Mahashivratri, Shravan Somvar, Nag Panchami, and Pradosha. There are 3 kinds of Pradosh namely Shani Pradosha, Soma Pradosha & Maha Pradosha.
